Charming work of Lila de Nobili, young italian artist, who offered in particular her impressions of the latest work of Nina Ricci, Jeanne Lafaurie, Worth and Christian Dior. She continued in this romantic and theatral vein for one year, mostly in the pages of french Vogue. If her painting is immediately rather Bérardian in its flavour, it also surely looks back consciously to high Impressionism, to Degas's dancers in the wings, and the débutantes and ingénues of Renoir. The theatre soon claimed Miss de Nobili, and her distinguished career as a designer for the stage, in Paris especially, has continued. (Source: Fashion drawing in Vogue, by William Packer)
