Four women in black-trimmed evening gowns appear in this vintage 1934 clipping illustrated by Léon Bénigni for Chanel: one in profile with a ruffled collar and a peplum at the waist, and three seen from the back in backless gowns, with a large bow across the shoulders, a second bow at the hip or a wide pointed collar, drawn in black ink beneath the caption «La nouvelle ligne» (The new line). A preserved paper witness of 1930s evening fashion.
