Cover  The curiously beautiful head ornament on the page to the right was designed for herself by Madame Sert out of ennui with the more commonplace type of tiara. It is held on by a Cellophane band that matches the hair. Boivin carried out the design. Photo Man Ray

1/ Nubian heads of black enamel, with a turban of pearl and colored stones and a collage of rose diamonds, fashion these unusual cufflinks. They are Italian eighteenth-century buttons belonging to Madame Vilmorin and loaned by her to Cartier of Paris for copying.
2/ A striking head ornament is the tiny gold cap trimmed with a quill from which gold pendants dangle. It was made by Boivin and belongs to
Madame Sert, as does the necklace of moonstones and uncut emeralds and the large Chanel bracelet of white enamel and colored stone.
3/ Smeared gold, barbarous and beautiful, in a cigarette-case from Cartier of Paris.
4/ Madame Valentina wears the very delicate gold mesh evening slippers designed by Delman
