Detailed description
Jean Cocteau, a remarkable Frenchman, served for some fifty-six years as an international battery charging up motors in all the arts—-plays, movies, novels, stage décor, poetry, ballets, painting. Recently the battery stopped when Cocteau, the young man of Paris, died at seventy-four. Famous at eighteen, Cocteau knew everyone in Paris, saw himself involved with the happenings of his time, counted among his friends the great social figures of Paris, the poets, the painters. He invented new ways of seeing. No one who ever listened to the intoxication of his conversation will ever forget Cocteau.
