EDITOR'S NOTE: André Girard, young French artist who did these four pages, served in the French Army during the conflict and, after the armistice, became very active in the French Underground. For two years, he was in charge of "Radio Patrie," a secret broadcasting station in France. When his activities became so known that they jeopardized his further usefulness in France, he was transferred to England and then to the United States. His knowledge of the situation in France and certain military questions has been of great service to both countries.
The charming drawings shown here are not fashions of the Haute Couture, but were created and worn by the "little people" - the midinettes and workers - as a gesture of defiance to the Nazis.
