BROADWAY IN THE BROWN-OUT. Part circus, part nightmare, the excitement centre of New York. Pouring slowly along the sidewalks, the mass of girls and soldiers; the cheapsam and the tired; the whole town; and always a pair of French sailors. This picture was painted, with his heart on his brush, by Miguel Covarrubias.
